FAQ
Nothing happens when I play a string
- Make sure microphone access is allowed (Settings → Privacy & Security → Microphone → SageTune).
- Set Mic Sensitivity to High in the settings card at the bottom of the Tuner tab.
- An unplugged electric guitar or bass is quiet, so hold your iPhone close to the body.
It reacts to other sounds in a noisy place
- Set Mic Sensitivity to Low.
- Tap the waveform-and-magnifier button (Measure Noise) to re-measure the background noise for one second. Keep the strings silent while it measures.
It shows a different string or the wrong octave
- Strings left ringing can mask a softly played one. Mute the strings you are not tuning.
- iPad microphones pick up low notes weakly, so low strings may be detected an octave higher (Presets mode still shows the right string).
How do I change the reference pitch (A4 = 442 Hz, etc.)?
Open the Settings tab and choose a value from 435 to 445 Hz. It applies to both detection and reference tones.
